St Monica's
Primary School -
"We're
here to make a difference"
SPECIAL
EVENTS
St Monica’s celebrated the
cultures of India and Bangladesh on Tuesday 18th
March. It was a fantastic day, mainly because of the
help of our parents whose heritage is from India and
Bangladesh.
During Art
every grade learnt how to
make Rangoli and its significance.
In History lessons they researched and prepared displays
demonstrating the contribution of migrants from India
and Bangladesh to our Australian way of life, and also
the traditions and culture of those countries.
Prep, Year 1 and 2 children learnt traditional songs
from India in music.
| On
Monday 17th the whole day was spent creating
the Rangoli, from drawing the outline on black paper,
dying the rice and then pasting it on the paper to form
the picture. Every class visited the library to watch
the process and the children were in awe of the skill of
the two mothers who created them. |
