ST. MONICA'S SCHOOL The
school has excellent resources for your child's learning, e.g.
a well stocked library, quality reading materials and
computers in the classrooms, computer lab, gym/hall, art
room and an adventure
playground.
The children participate in P.E. and Art
programs, which are run by specialist teachers The children
also have two 30 minute classes in Vietnamese language as well
as mother tongue maintenance for the Vietnamese children.
A Vietnamese interpreter is always
available for all meetings and interviews.

Effective discipline is
maintained with the school having very few behaviour problems.
The expectation is that the children become increasingly
responsible for their own behaviour, accepting appropriate
consequences for any misbehaviour.

RELIGIOUS
EDUCATION PROGRAM Religious Education is taught from
Year Prep to 6. The Religious Education Texts "To Know,
Worship and Love" are used in planning, in conjunction with a
wide variety of resources. These include songs, Scripture
story books and other related story books. Within the
timetable is included daily prayer and Religious Education
lessons throughout the week. Each class prepares and
celebrates one Sunday Mass with the Parish during the year.
All families are expected to come to this celebration as it
forms part of the class Religious Education program. Letters
will be sent to all families informing them of their child's
special role in the Mass.
The Sacraments
of Reconciliation and Eucharist are received in Year 3 and

DAYS During the year the teachers will
participate in in-service days. On these days the school will
be closed. There will probably be six in-service days in

SUN
SAFETY The school supports the Anti-Cancer
Council’s Sun Smart Slip! Slop! Slap! campaign, therefore all
children must wear a

GOVERNMENT MONEY Education Maintenance Allowance. The Education Maintenance Allowance is to enable low income
families to have money to spend on books, clothing, excursions and
other things. It is available to families with children at primary
school. Eligible families receive partial payment of the allowance
twice a year, for each child, in Term 1 and in Term 3. Each instalment is
divided into two parts: one payable to the parents, the other payable
direct to the school.
To be eligible to apply you
must be a current Commonwealth Health Card holder on the first
day of Term 1 and on the first day of Term 3.
Application forms will be
available from the School office. You must bring your Health
Care Card to school to be sighted by the Principal for your
application to be valid. The school then sends the application
off for you and the school will receive the cheque and deduct it from your Tuition Fees.

HOMEWORK POLICY No set
Homework for Preps., however it is important to read with your
child. Approximate length of time expected to complete both
homework and reading per night is:

TUCKSHOP The school has a
Tuckshop. Children can order their lunch at school . A price
list of the Tuckshop will be given to

planned to extend the children’s knowledge and experience.
Written permission will be required from parents for any

SCHOOL CAMP
EXPERIENCE To help foster self-reliance and
a spirit of co-operation, Prep., Year 1 and Year 2 have an
activity “camp” day at school. The children of Years 3 and 4
are taken away each year for 2 days. Years 5 and 6 are taken
away each year on a three day camp. The camp is carefully
planned and all efforts are made to keep the cost of the camp

SCHOOL BANKING The Catholic
Development Fund provides a very competitive banking service
which is available at the school on a weekly basis. It is a
good habit to encourage in your children and we would
encourage them to make use of the service provided. Banking
